Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As the Retail Communications Specialist you are responsible for designing clear and engaging internal communications covering multiple subjects across our Retail fleet. You are a key point of contact for cross-functional partners across the organization. You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and can meet time-sensitive deadlines. Operating with a growth mindset, you know that communication plays a crucial role in employee engagement and you’re always looking at new ways to innovate in this space. As the voice of the stores, we empower our teams and deliver no-fluff digestible, super clear content. As the communications specialist, you cultivate growth, and connect different corners of the organization by engaging our stores through storytelling and strong visuals.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

The Operational Solutions team designs the ideal conditions for stores to get sh*t done. We act as a cornerstone of our channel team, and we are the conduit between the retail stores and the cross-functional partners at HQ. Operational Solutions is responsible for representing stores in cross-functional projects; partnering to create clear, concise store communications, implement projects or launch initiatives to stores, develop store operating frameworks, and define recurring processes.

If you were the Retail Communications Specialist now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Collaborating with other areas of HQ to deliver strategic projects and programs
  • Identifying and mitigating risk in projects and escalating issues where necessary
  • Partnering cross functionally to gain alignment and hold cross-functional teams accountable to meet milestones, specifically Product, (including Merchants, Allocations Teams, and Visual Merchandising teams), Brand Marketing, People & Culture, Finance, IT and Retail Training
  • Presenting communications and deliverables to key stakeholders within the Commercial business and across the organization
  • Developing new ways to manage the work across our teams, including new processes, practices and procedures
  • Developing impactful internal communications for a global audience including (but not limited to) weekly publication, videos, speaking notes, editorial stories and intranet posts
  • Continually improving, measuring, and evaluating effectiveness of employee communications strategies and methods
  • Packaging communications in a clear and visual way through engaging presentations and displays
  • Supporting with our Store Master List, our Retail Intranet, and our Distribution lists
  • Creating and executing project plans to drive internal engagement and deliver results for specific initiatives
  • Evolving and continuously improving store communications
  • Working with copywriters and/or translation services to ensure communications can be scaled and shared globally
  • Communicating project progress to key stakeholders across the business
  • Supporting with the organization, management, and maintenance of key retail documents, files, and resources in our retail intranet
  • Championing our principles, practices, and procedures in Retail and maintain/uphold these consistently
  • Managing different projects and initiatives as new priorities are added to the business objectives

Are you our next Retail Communications Specialist?

  • You have experience in developing, creating, reviewing and releasing communications to large, varying audiences
  • You communicate with honesty and kindness, and you create space for others to do the same
  • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
  • You have experience working in a vertical retail business model
  • You demonstrate the ability to multi-task and work under pressure, operating under tight time constraints with a strong sense of urgency.
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and illustrator (other tools may be an asset)
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
  • You have 3+ year’s experience in a communications related role
  • You embrace feedback and direction from your peers, managers and leaders
  • You foster connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships
  • You have experience with intranet solutions and employee engagement tools
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills including analytical, problem solving, organizational, issue resolution, and cross functional relationship management
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • You have experience working with Smartsheet and/or other project management tools.
  • You have a background in design, photography, and creative graphic solutions
  • You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
  • You have experience working with translation services, contractors or copywriters
