Research Analyst
ABOUT THE POSITION
The successful candidate will conduct quantitative data analyses and work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, collaborators and knowledge transfer and exchange associates. This is a full-time, 24-month contract position. This position will require the successful candidate to work in-person in Toronto.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently conduct quantitative data management, data cleaning, descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analyses with complex survey and administrative data sets;
Cleaning and documenting data sets and variables to be used for analysis, including examination of variable distributions and whether expected relationships between variables are observed in the data;
Under the guidance of the lead scientist, independently conduct various statistical analyses (including regression analyses, structural equation modeling, and longitudinal multilevel modeling);
Under the guidance of the lead scientist, choose and justify the most appropriate inferential analytical approach given the research question, and interpreting research findings;
Communicate and identify solutions to analytic issues with the lead scientists;
Prepare preliminary drafts of research reports and papers, with a responsibility for documenting research methodology and statistical analyses;
Design and create tables, charts, and graphs for research reports and presentation materials; and
Collaborate on various research projects by providing analytic support.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
At minimum a Master’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics, public health, psychology, statistics, economics or other quantitative health or social/behavioural science disciplines;
Demonstrated proficiency in data management with longitudinal administrative data; experience working with Statistics Canada surveys is an asset;
Three (3) or more years experience with complex statistical analyses, including latent class analyses, longitudinal analyses, growth mixture modeling, bootstrapping, and the appropriate use of survey weights;
Advanced expertise in statistical analyses in R and SAS software. Experience with MPlus is an asset;
Strong written communication skills, particularly related to describing complex statistical and study methodology;
Prior experience conducting research in psychiatric epidemiology, mental health economics, mental health and/or occupational health fields is an asset.
SALARY RANGE
Salary will depend on qualifications and experience and will be in the range of $72,000 to $85,000 per year. Suitability for the position will be assessed at six months.
