Registered Practical Nurse Jobs

Pretty River is a brand-new private retirement home located in Collingwood and opening in September 2023. The home is specifically designed for people with dementia and will focus on Resident care and services to help them live with a healthy balance of mind-body-spirit, and purpose. The ideal candidate will be a positive, team oriented, flexible person who puts the needs of the Residents first.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contributes within the scope of an RPN as a team member in the assessment, treatment, provision of care and health promotion for all residents through supportive, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means while adhering to the standards mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Process and implement Physician and/or Pharmacy orders
• Personal resilience, time management and critical thinking skills.
• Admissions/ Discharges
• Communication with families and POA
• Communication with doctors, pharmacy and other community health providers as necessary
• Plan and administer and assess effectiveness of any scheduled treatments.
• Medication administration / delegation
• Care Plan development, implementation and updates as required
• Appropriate, timely (shift) and complete electronic documentation as per Pretty River, CNO and RHRA standards.
• Ability to adapt to frequently changing and challenging situations, providing leadership on-shift.
• Expressive behaviour supports and interventions
• Be the Shift-leader on the floor supporting and supervising the Associates on-shift
• While on shift you will be responsible for up to 18 residents and the supervision of 1-3 Resident Associates (PSWs)
• Consistent ability to respect and positively contribute to a multi-disciplinary, multi-task team environment.
• Follow up to incidents and complaints by completing all appropriate documentation

Qualifications

• Current Vulnerability Screening Check within the last 6 months
• Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• GPA is an asset or will train
• Current C.P.R.
• Absolute commitment to and promotion of the belief that people with Alzheimer’s disease and related Dementia can live meaningful lives surrounded by people who are devoted to their well-being, security and care.
• One year minimum experience caring for those with dementia and/or the geriatric population
• Food Handlers certification is an asset or will train
• PIECES and/or Montessori certification preferred
