Job Description
INSTRUCTOR, PRACTICAL NURSE – ACUTE CARE CLINICAL

FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re looking for someone dedicated to finding ways forward to join our Faculty of Health Studies team at our Edmonton and Wetaskiwin campuses as Instructors in our Practical Nurse program.

Graduates of NorQuest College’s Practical Nurse program are also Difference Makers in terms of the health care that Albertans receive. Our students prepare for their clinical experiences with theory and hands-on learning in multiple modes of delivery, and we are proud of the varied and robust learning experiences in our programs. We utilize low and high-fidelity simulation to augment the learner experience, providing students with a safe learning environment to practice and reflect.

Our Instructors take pride in making a positive impact on the lives of the students they teach. You will join a collaborative academic community that thrives on energy, motivation, and dedication to the successes of both our students and colleagues.

Our students come to us with the goals of improving their lives and the lives of those around them. Join us and help them achieve their goals.

We are looking for 3 term Instructors with 3+ years of acute care experience within the last 10 years of working.

Lab shifts run weekdays and weekends, during days and evenings. Clinicals are usually Monday to Friday for four and eight-week increments. They consist of alternating 1 week eight-hour day shifts and 1 week eight-hour evening shifts with weekends off. The primary focus of clinicals is for medicine and surgical site rotations with the possibly of some long-term care sites.

Responsibilities include planning and developing clinical assignments, supervising students, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment, maintaining appropriate student records of attendance and performance, providing appropriate feedback to students on performance, notifying instructional coordinator of student concerns, and developing and maintaining site rapport and relationships.

You must have the ability to travel to clinical sites in Edmonton and surrounding area.
