Graestone Ready Mix Inc. is seeking a qualified Ready-Mix Quality Control Technician for the Metro Vancouver area. The Quality Control Technician performs routine duties to complex field observations for the purpose of verifying that ready-mix concrete materials meet the construction plans and specifications. This is done by the physical testing and inspection of products used to manufacture concrete.
Duties & Responsibilities
·Conduct and document concrete quality control testing at plant and on job sites so that adjustments can be made to produce a consistent quality ready mix concrete product.
·Ensure concrete testing is in accordance to the specifications for the project—and ensure that CSA/CPCQA/PCI/ASTM guidelines are followed.
·Maintain, analyse and interpret test data and record daily test results.
·Investigate customer complaints thoroughly and handle responses appropriately.
·Look for root causes of product issues and use solutions as a means of educating field team members about the principles and methods of quality concrete production.
·Work with management to ensure optimal production from plants.
·Become a leader in usage and mix verification to improve production and to eliminate quality complaints.
·Assist at the job site when required.
·Provide concrete mix guidance and leadership to mixer drivers.
·Visit job sites to respond to quality control issues and to ensure that Technical Services and Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures are being followed.
·Post sampling: analyze test data and take corrective action to prevent any non- conforming products. Document test results and maintain all testing equipment.
·Follows proper procedures, maintains accurate computations and reports all findings throughout the day.
·Responsible for reviewing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and quality control reports.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
§Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical environment.
§Valid Driver’s License.
§Safety oriented and sound knowledge of concrete is preferred.
§Ability to lift heavy materials and work extended hours.
§Background in material testing and running gradations.
§Current ACI Level I Certification preferred.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time, hourly position in an extremely high-paced environment that will require overtime and weekend work. This job is physically demanding, requiring the successful applicant to be capable of standing, walking, bending, and stooping eight to ten hours a day in all seasons.
There are repetitive movements (shoveling/sweeping) daily and the requirement to lift up to 40
kilo’s on occasion.
