Job Title:Quality Control Laboratory Technician
Department:Quality Assurance
Reports to:Quality Assurance Manager

A.General SummaryThis position is responsible for Processing laboratory samples, performing tests, recording test results, and cleaning and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment.
B.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities·Test the production process at the beginning, middle and end to ensure that the production quality remains the same throughout.
·Thoroughly test all samples from production within required timelines.
·Perform chemical and Micro analyses of products and accurately documenting all results.
·Carefully and accurately interpreting all data and test results.
·Perform root cause analyses when issues are identified and gather information from necessary parties.
·Complete a thorough monthly environmental analysis (air quality), taking samples throughout the plant to ensure all sanitation standards are being met.
·Accurately calibrate laboratory equipment, closely following calibration procedures.
·Participate in routine cleaning verification studies and sanitization protocols by collecting swab samples and performing TC test.
·Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments.
·Perform routine water samples analysis.
·Perform sample collection for third party lab testing (Monthly) as per schedule.
·Monitor product flow on a continuous basis.
·Participate in laboratory investigations.
·Perform general house cleaning duties to maintain a clean laboratory.
·Assist in implementation of corrective action plans, participate in identifying root causes and communicate with QA management regarding pending issues.
·Record and/or execute validation and/or experimental protocols for laboratory equipment and test methods as required.
·Ensure samples, equipment, and any required chemicals are handled properly to avoid contamination.
·Ensure the proper disposal of samples.
·Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations.
·Provide input to develop new processes as part of continuous improvement.
·Strict adherence to all Company established procedures and policies, including Food Handling, Health and Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
·Special projects or other duties as required.
C.RelationshipsInternally, position interacts with:
·Production and laboratory personnel to accomplish goals
Externally, position interacts with:
·Vendors to accomplish goals
Education:
·Post-Secondary Education in Microbiology or Chemistry.
Experience:
·1 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance Department; Dairy industry experience preferred; Proficiency in MSOffice applications.Knowledge of CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) Regulations, GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and Health and Safety and WHMIS regulations in a food processing facility; Working knowledge of an ERP system an asset. Working knowledge of a kosher and organic certified run facility an asset.
