The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager (QAP), the Quality Assurance Controller AQAP operates in accordance with best practices, policies, procedure and applicable acts and regulations. The individual must be able to demonstrate that they have the experience, training and technical knowledge related to the cannabis regulations for processing and sale of cannabis products. The successful candidate will be positive in attitude, show strong attention to detail, hardworking, effective decision making and leadership skills. As a resourceful and creative problem solver, you will show initiative, work individually as well as in a team environment, be a quick learner and can easily adapt to different situations. You also have an ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a changing and fast-paced work environment while exhibiting excellent organizational skills.
The role of Quality Assurance Person will work closely with all departments at the Winnipeg facility.
Responsibilities:
- Assists QA Manager with coordination and execution of traceability exercises.
- Possess sound experience in Quality systems implementation.
- Review and approval of preventative control plans for extracts and edibles prior to product run on the lines
- Monitor environmental and product test result data trends; identify and facilitate changes to achieve specifications and targets
- Other duties as may be required.
- Responsible to assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of policies, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), work instructions, deviation reports, risk assessments, equipment qualifications, Quality agreements, records, forms, and develop quality standards associated with the quality management system.
- Assure the quality of cannabis products before they are made available for sale.
- Set standards and monitor procedures to ensure product safety at all stages of the operation, including receiving, production, packaging, and shipping.
- Responsible for assuring the quality of the cannabis products before they are made available for sale.
- Assist with design, execution, and analysis of stability protocols.
- Investigate every complaint received regarding quality of cannabis products with immediate actions to mitigate risks.
- Performs internal facility inspections and audits
- Fulfills the role of QAP in absence of primary QAP.
- Coordinate GMP and Quality training activities on the shop floor by ensuring best practices are implemented in a sustainable manner.
- Assure the quality of cannabis products before they are made available for sale.
- Conduct Annual Product reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide training and support to employees on quality systems.
- Provide approval of methods and procedures for cannabis or anything that will be used as an ingredient for the production, packaging, labelling and storage of cannabis products prior to their implementation
- Directly assists with duties of QAP and fulfills the role of an AQAP (Alternate Quality Assurance Person/Quality Coordinator) under the Cannabis Act.
- Carry out activities in accordance with best practices, policies, procedures, applicable acts, and regulations.
- Reviews and approves master batch records for cannabis products conducting ERP system release and quarantines as applicable.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of Preventative Control Plan (PCP) ensuring the program coincides with all relevant acts and regulations and that PCPs are within critical limits
- Coordinates cannabis product for testing and reviews testing results to assure the cannabis product meets specifications for release.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in sciences, food safety, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years experience in Quality Assurance pertaining to food manufacturing with
- Leadership in implementing HACCP programs is desired.
Requirements:
- Ability to obtain Minister approval to act as the Quality Assurance Person for Organigram.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Security Clearance as required under the Cannabis act.
Skill Set:
- Proven leadership experience and teamwork.
- Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in a Quality Assurance role
- Strong problem solving, decision making, communication (written and verbal)skills.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, inventory management systems
- Has a well-established sense of urgency and takes initiative
- Key attributes include:
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
- Self driven and displays strong attention to detail
- Experience in a regulated environment would be considered an asset
- Security Clearance with Health Canada would be considered an asset
- Multi -tasking with efficiency and precision in a fast-paced evolving environment while maintaining a positive outlook.
- Shows initiative and excels in critical thinking for problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Previous auditing experience.
