AWT Labels & Packaging is currently searching for a Quality Assurance Specialist at our Label Innovation (LINC) business located in Ottawa Canada. The Quality Assurance Specialist performs a variety of Quality and Production efficiency-related functions including developing procedures, product testing, data analysis, and various forms of record keeping. In addition to providing support and resolving quality-related issues, the Quality Assurance Specialist has a key role in promoting continuous improvement.
Who you are:
- Experienced in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Multitasker with good time management skills
- Highly ethical worker
- Good communicator (verbal and written skills)
- Able to create and review technical documentation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Minitab and generally comfortable with technology.
- Experienced in Quality Control / Manufacturing Management (3 years) or a university/college graduate in a technical discipline.
- Safety-first attitude
- Able to obtain Controlled Goods Certification
- Methodical with superior attention to detail.
- Able to use various measuring devices
- Able to achieve planned results by utilizing organization and prioritization skills, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Able to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures
- Analytical and critical thinker / problem solver and able to work with and analyze numerical data.
Desirable:
- ASQ’s Quality Technician Certification. Other certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) would also be considered an asset, such as Quality Inspector, Quality Auditor, Quality Process Analyst, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Quality Improvement Associate.
- Experienced applying Lean Six Sigma statistical tools such as Capability Analysis, Gage R&R and Control Charts.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs physical and visual inspections of in-process and finished product.
- Coordinates the review, approval and posting of Quality Management System documents.
- Participates in quality team activities in support of ISO 9001:2015 requirements including planning, executing and reporting internal audits and assessments.
- Identifies and resolves quality nonconformances using structured problem-solving techniques to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Trains personnel on quality/process control techniques
- Performs data analysis for product final release and the validation of equipment, tooling and processes.
- Undertakes special projects as assigned
- Performs other duties relating to Quality Assurance as required.
