Job Description

We are looking for a PURCHASER for our client in the manufacturing sector in Winnipeg.


Purchaser responsibilities:


  • Ensure purchasing process is generated for job specific material, sub-contractor, packaging supplies, freight and employee supplies ordered as approved.
  • Maintain order status and weekly reconciliations, monitoring expected dates and updating purchased orders as needed and explaining and reporting on variances and discrepancies.
  • Adhere to the purchase order system in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Purchase products and materials with a focus on glass, ensuring on time and best quality and price.
  • Working with Purchasing Supervisor maintaining raw material inventory for production and job specific materials.
  • Liaise with receiving/shipping department to ensure proper recording of receipt of product.


The successful candidate has:


  • Shows initiative in identifying problems and proposing solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to handle conflict and challenges effectively
  • Ability to work well within a team environment with overlapping responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Post-secondary education program in Business, Supply Chain, Production, or Manufacturing Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3- 5 years' experience in purchasing in manufacturing, industrial, or construction setting
  • Ability to identify opportunities for business, cost reduction and process improvement
  • Experience in purchasing glass will be given priority
  • Sound analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

Compensation and benefits:


  • The discussed salary is $60-65,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 3 weeks' vacation to start
