Your role


Join our growing team in Toronto as a Project Manager!


In this role, you will contribute to our client's successes by helping them build amazing workplaces, businesses and communities around the Greater Toronto Area. You will bring a wealth of experience having managed laboratory building projects in the healthcare, higher education and/or private sectors.


Responsibilities


  • Your clients are impressed with your ability to represent their best interests regarding contractual and technical issues
  • Your project teams rely on your ability to manage change, communicate and coordinate between multiple stakeholders, resolve issues, and deliver projects on time and on budget
  • You have the understanding of the requirements of the building structure and mechanical/electrical systems to support a lab space and lab equipment.
  • You have experience managing design consultants and construction teams for projects with a laboratory/research facility project.
  • You have experience delivering multiple projects in parallel with the support from team members
  • You have the ability to liaise with the brokerage team, and support lease requirements when it comes to lab spaces and determine high-level requirements
  • The ability to remain nimble and agile when addressing competing client demands, requirements and concerns
  • Your clients trust you and rely on your knowledge, skills and expertise to achieve their business goals and objectives
  • You have experience working with research teams and understand their unique roles and responsibilities.
  • Understand the flow of laboratory research and how this is transferred through to design of a fit-out space.
  • You have experience leading laboratory building projects including renovations and fit-outs from concept to completion.
  • You have experience implementing and are familiar with the Canadian Biosafety Standard.
  • You maintain contact with existing and prospective clients and respond to business development with support from the Business Development Team, Principal or Regional Vice President
  • The ability to manage projects and stakeholders while spaces are occupied, being mindful of the impact of disruptions on tenants
  • You have experience working on laboratory research spaces of various types of research requirements including but not limited to BSL 1, 2, 3 and chemical laboratories.


Qualifications


  • At least 5 to 10 years of experience in project coordination and management in projects related to laboratory spaces both research and healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of the laboratory services environment including the Laboratory Services Act, and the Canadian Biosafety Standard.
  • Professional industry credentials such as PMP, E.I.T/P.Eng., CET, Registered Architect, Scientific background or other similar industry recognized designation is considered a strong asset
  • A positive attitude and the ability to collaborate with local and regional teams
  • A university or college degree or diploma in architecture or engineering (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)
  • Strong knowledge of various construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as building codes, contract law and relevant legislation
  • Previous experience working collaboratively with Local Governments and First Nations is considered a strong asset
  • A strong sense of community and involvement in local community boards and associations is a strong asset
