Main Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Consultancy, the project consultant will join the UK Client Delivery (UKCD) Team working predominantly for our UK/EU Legal business unit and is expected to make a valuable contribution with a can-do attitude, assuring the legal business unit meets its service delivery objectives in a profitable manner.
Duties of the project consultant include the full-lifecycle delivery of BigHand solutions to UK/EU markets, strategic initiatives and pre-sales consultancy engagements. The project consultant will be working closely with the legal business units to ensure projects are delivered to agreed performance criteria.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Meeting personal portfolio performance KPI targets;
- Close projects and handover to relevant stakeholders in an organised and efficient manner, whilst sharing potential opportunities;
- Project Management
- Controlling project scope and budget, submitting requests for change via the UKCD change control process where necessary;
- Business case/ financial appraisal/ return on investment – to understand and integrate the strategic business context and outcomes to the project plan;
- Leading project teams to ensure delivery meets to the agreed performance criteria;
- Business process re-engineering - facilitation of workshops to capture As-Is and define To-Be processes;
- Pre-Sales Support
- Defining, documenting project scope and agreeing with customers;
- Support the sales team with the accurate scoping of projects in the pipeline;
- Compliance with governance requirements, including project audits and health checks;
- Provide business consultancy allowing our customers to optimise the use of our solution;
- Monitoring and controlling projects (and any sub-projects), ensuring transparency so the wider business is aware of the current status of any project;
- Ensuring that all internal systems are kept updated and approved artefacts are used.
- Provide user demonstrations, end user training and floor walking, if/ when necessary;
- Ensure a strong, professional and healthy relationship is maintained between the Legal Business Unit and other teams within the organisation;
- Solution Advisory
- Ensure risks/ issues/ assumptions and dependencies are captured, monitored and controlled throughout the life of a project, reporting any exceptions to the Head of Consultancy in a timely manner;
- Creating project control documents to support a sale.
- Business analysis – requirements gathering, capturing and defining;
- Engage and communicate with stakeholders as agreed in the communications plan (stakeholders include; internal, partner and customers);
- Benefits management – facilitate the creation of the customer owned Benefits Realisation Plan.
- Effective management of a busy portfolio of projects;
Essential Skills/Experience
- Experience in business process mapping and re-engineering;
- Demonstrable exposure to strategic change/ transformation initiatives, particularly in the Legal sector;
- Proven experience in leading internal, client and 3rd party resources to ensure projects are delivered to the agreed performance criteria;
- Flexible and willing to help in other areas of the business, if required.
- Strong business acumen, managing stakeholder expectations up to C Level;
- Delivered full-lifecycle technology projects (at least 2 years);
- Excellent negotiation, communication and organisation skills;
- Full life-cycle project management experience;
Beneficial Skills/Experience
- Prince2 foundation and practitioner
- AgilePM Practitioner;
- Familiarity with remote meeting management and remote working.
- Good technical understanding of infrastructures and Microsoft SQL;
- Knowledge of Legal & related technologies;
- Degree educated or equivalent;
