Project Engineer (Eit) - Guideways, Surrey Langley Skytrain Project

TI Corp is Crown Corporation that has a mandate to deliver $13.3 Billion in major infrastructure on behalf of the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Overview

The Project Engineer (EIT) position is responsible for supporting the Technical Manager – Guideways in overseeing the design and construction aspects of the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project to ensure compliance with approved design submissions and contractual requirements, and for accurate on-site monitoring, documenting and reporting of construction activities to enable the Province to report on progress.

Key Accountabilities

• Supports the technical team in drafting and consolidate submission responses.
• Coordinates and manages the technical review of the Design-Builder’s design and construction submissions including design drawings, over-arching plans, schedule changes, and construction work plans.
• Provides support to the Technical Manager in the monitoring and management of the performance of the Owner’s Engineer contract and provides updates as needed.
• Coordinates the development of technical presentations and information for regulatory agencies and stakeholders and attending meetings with stakeholders and regulatory agencies where required.
• Develops and implements systems and processes to effectively track and manage the Design and Construction requirements as noted in the Design Build Project Agreement.
• Provides general engineering support across all disciplines, including review of design and construction submissions and plans from the Design-Build Contractor for all engineering disciplines.
• Coordinates and attends internal and external stakeholder meetings and prepares agendas, minutes, and reports, tracks and reports out on action items and meeting outcomes.
• Performs field reviews in accordance with EGBC Field Reviews during construction.
• Attends construction meetings and coordinates and tracks the management of project interfaces between contractors and the Project Team and supports the mitigation of construction risks.
• Supports construction management by conducting regular site visits and reporting observations, concerns, and potential issues to ensure project deliverables are in compliance with the approved designs and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of security screening will be required as a condition of employment with TI Corp.
• Sound judgement, excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and prioritizing skills to anticipate and assess situations and determine best solution or course of action.
• Degree in Engineering (preferably Civil) and membership as an Engineer in Training with EGBC.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specification, codes and standards.
• Experience analyzing potential issues and developing solutions to mitigate impacts.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with implementing EGBC Quality Management Guide.
• Preference may be given to applicants with at least 3 years of experience in project coordination, construction monitoring and inspection activities on large civil or transportation projects.
