Physiotherapist | Home And Community Care

We have a permanent, full time Physiotherapist opening with Kelowna’s Community Health Services Centre (CHSC). We will offer relocation allowance to the eligible Physiotherapist, an exceptional employer-paid benefits package, recognition of previous experience in determining starting salary, and generous vacation entitlement.
In this position the Physiotherapist will provide coverage three days per week in Home and Community Care for the Central Okanagan, and two days per week in Health Services for Community Living (HSCL)
Community Home Health is working predominantly with a geriatric population, but can see clients of all ages (very rarely pediatric) and involves home visits and case management for clients needing physiotherapy consults and interventions to support safety and optimizing independence at home. The Physiotherapist will frequently provide rehab follow-up support for clients coming back home from an acute hospital or an inpatient rehab / convalescent period stay to ensure a successful transition when returning to their own homes.
Health Services for Community Living is a program that provides health services assessment, planning and care supports to youth and adults with developmental disabilities, and their families and caregivers. While Community Living British Columbia is responsible for planning and delivering services to youth and adults with developmental disabilities, we collaborate in the delivery of specific health services for clients living in home settings.
As a valued member of the CHSC Home Health team, you will be working closely with other community-based healthcare disciplines (i.e. Occupational Therapists, Rehab Assistants, Home Care Nurses, Palliative Care Team, Community Nurse Case Managers for Long-Term Care, Community Health Workers, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers and Transition Nurses) in providing client-centered care.
Professional physiotherapy practice is supported at multiple levels. Locally by the CHSC Team and by the whole group of Community Physiotherapists from the Central Okanagan. Direct supervision for this group is provided by a Physiotherapy Section Head for Home and Community. General practice as part of a group led by a Physiotherapy Professional Practice leader, with operational oversight from an Allied Health Manager.
All Physiotherapy clinicians are also enjoined to actively participate in a “Community of Practice” (Physio Practice Council) established within the Health Authority, connecting Physiotherapists from other sites to discuss practical practice concerns and doubly serve as a venue for group mentoring and guidance.
Specialty Education courses sponsored periodically by the health authority are offered to clinicians to help enhance effective, evidence-based practice approaches. Interior Health staff education opportunities are reimbursed per year based on an annual limit (and subject to manager approval). There is opportunity for growth within the department as well as within the health authority through various leadership roles and functions, whether participating in stretch assignments or leading Quality Improvement Projects.
We are seeking a Physiotherapist with strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-oriented mindset and being comfortable working regularly without direct supervision. Must have driver's license and access to personal vehicle and be comfortable driving year round to see clients in their homes. We welcome new grad Physiotherapists to apply.
