Job Description

Fuze HR is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Operations Manager to lead our Distribution and Service department with a strong focus on safety, continuous improvement, relationship building, communication, strategic thinking, and profitability. As an Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in fostering a "safety first" culture while ensuring compliance with industry standards and practices. You will be responsible for developing strong relationships with customers and vendors, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement strategies to keep employees motivated and dedicated, collaborating with HR on compensation planning, including union employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Manage inventory control and optimize inventory levels through cycle counting and physical inventory.
  • Facilitate a continuous improvement culture, driving projects to optimize operations through root cause analysis and other methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety rules and policies, and monitor overtime levels.
  • Ensure the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment align with safety standards.
  • Participate in budget creation and forecasting, minimizing expenses while maximizing profits.
  • Present plans, strategies, variances to budgets/forecasts, KPIs, and results, including corrective actions, to executives.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, develop, and retain employees, promoting autonomy and accountability through effective communication and performance feedback.
  • Oversee supplier selection and screening, and manage service pricing to achieve profitability targets.
  • Maintain and replenish the truck fleet with a focus on cost reduction.
  • Stay updated on industry knowledge and trends by participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
  • Review and approve purchase orders/invoices, adhering to company policy.
  • Collaborate with customers to maintain a high level of satisfaction, addressing concerns and requests promptly.
  • Monitor changing market conditions and adjust strategies accordingly.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively manage conflict and foster good team and inter-department relations.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and adapt to rapid changes while maintaining high performance.
  • Innovative mindset with a strong passion for achieving results.
  • Flexibility to work various hours, including overnight, weekends, and holidays, based on business demands.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in team management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • High school diploma.
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience in a Supply Chain Operation (an asset).
  • Well-organized with strong project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as an Operations Manager in a service and distribution environment.
