Position: News Writer, TV and Digital Content, Bell Media
Location: CTV News, Vancouver BC
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Must work every Saturday and Sunday plus three weekdays; additional overtime hours as required.
Bell Media has an opportunity for an experienced news writer to join the CTV Vancouver newsroom creating content for TV and digital platforms. The successful candidate will be a “hybrid” writer – writing news for TV, helping research and gather daily news and build TV newscasts, and also writing and publishing stories for the CTV news website. Reporting to the Senior Producer, the successful candidate will have experience that demonstrates exceptional editorial skills and professionalism.
You Must Have

• The vision to help build engaging and exciting newscasts
• A track record of producing compelling content for TV, radio or online
• A history of successful newsroom collaboration

Key Responsibilities

• Help research, chase and write daily content for TV newscasts
• Package and publish content to the CTV News website
• Post stories to multiple social media streams
• Assist in video editing daily news

Critical Qualifications

• Proven ability to work with a team under high stress situations
• Journalism Diploma or Degree
• Relevant web-based news editing and reporting experience
• Excellent news writing ability and copy editing experience
• Minimum 1 year newsroom experience (TV, radio or digital)

Preferred Qualifications

• Adobe desktop video editing and Photoshop ability
• Experience with Content Management Systems including Polopoly
• In-depth knowledge of the Lower Mainland and British Columbia current affairs
• Experience using INews
