Middle School Teacher Jobs

Calgary Arts Academy is looking for an Alberta-certified teacher to join us at our Rosscarrock Middle School Campus serving students in Years 4-9. This is a short term contract in a Year 8/9 classroom ending September 15.
We are looking for a person who is an enthusiastic collaborator and risk-taker to work with a team of educators in a fast-paced interdisciplinary learning environment.
The candidate should have a sound knowledge of adolescent development as they are navigating the social-emotional needs of middle-school students. The candidate should be prepared to teach all core subject areas in the Alberta program of studies.
Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualities:
- Experience in and passion for the Arts (visual, music, drama, dance, creative writing, or other)
- A passion for collaboration, creativity, and progressive practice
- A supportive and caring manner with youth
- Ability to be flexible while meeting the needs of all students
- Commitment to taking positive risks
- Openness to participating in ongoing professional development
- Ability to work in a team with a variety of engaged stakeholders
- Willingness to contribute to school culture through participation in performance events, athletics, and other extracurricular activities
- A passion for, or experience in areas of Math and Science is an asset
This position is located at Calgary Arts Academy’s Middle School campus in the community of Rosscarrock. The successful candidate is required to have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate, a B.Ed., knowledge of the Year 8/9 curricula and experience in the arts.
