This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement .

Position Summary
The Faculty of Education invites applications for part-time Academic Teaching Staff to teach multiple sections of the following course in the 2023/2024 academic year:
EDEL 316 – Communication Through Mathematics Education
This course provides an introduction to the teaching and learning of mathematics in the elementary classroom. The focus will be on using curriculum, strategies, planning and resources to meet student needs.
These positions are located in Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, and/or online.
Most courses are scheduled during the daytime and offered in person, but some sections may be offered in the evening hours in person, online, or hybrid (online and face-to-face).
Minimum Qualifications
  • The successful applicant will hold a Master's Degree (minimum, PhD preferred) in Education with at least one graduate course in mathematics education or leadership experience in mathematics education at the K-9 level in a school district.
  • A commitment to the University’s Indigenous initiatives, and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate education courses, including serving as a teaching assistant.
  • Familiarity and facility with online teaching platforms such as Moodle, D2L, etc.
