Job Description

Want to work on climate solutions?

To build an expansive professional network?

To learn about how hydrogen solutions are key to a sustainable energy future?

Then The Hydrogen Business Council (HBC) has a role for you!

About Hydrogen and HBC

Clean hydrogen is a core climate solution, alongside clean electricity. The sector isn’t as yet developed as wind, solar or batteries, which means you have a better chance of making a bigger difference here, than in those more mature fields. With the fuel cell renaissance having happened in British Columbia many years ago, this position may be the right role in the right place at the right time, for you.

Clean hydrogen is unifying because it can give everyone wins: from renewable energy entrepreneurs to hydrocarbon sector workers; progressives and conservatives; startups and titans; industry and transport.

HBC is the regional affiliate of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) in British Columbia. We’re an industry association who work with members and governments to help scale up clean hydrogen, faster and further. Fuel cells too.

About the Role

In this early-career, Ontario-based role the Member Engagement Coordinator will:

· Assist HBC members with introductions, connections, membership administration and meetings and assist in recruiting new members for HBC and CHFCA.

· Oversee HBC’s relationships with the government (e.g., the ON Ministry of Energy), other energy agencies and hydrogen hub developers.

· Assist in managing various media streams that advocate for hydrogen in Ontario.

· Collaborate with our parent entity (CHFCA) and other Regional Affiliates and maintain our common national message.

· Create and lead a program to provide hydrogen education and training for emergency responders across the province.

· Coordinate a hydrogen outreach program to post-secondary institutions and high schools.

· Support HBC’s other activities, including budgeting, planning and general operations.

· Work with your HBC team to help you advance your career goals.

Requirements

· Post-secondary diploma or degree: business/commerce, engineering, political science, science. Graduates from other programs will also be considered; the technical knowledge can be picked up.

· Strong work ethic; proactive in taking the initiative.

· Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are key.

· Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.

· Microsoft Office proficiency.

· Ability and willingness to travel locally from time to time (member visits, events, etc.)

· Social media talent would be an asset but is not essential.
