As a Mechatronics Designer at Tungsten Collaborative, you will play a key role in designing and developing complex mechatronic systems from concept to implementation. Your expertise will be instrumental in combining mechanical, electronic, and software elements to create advanced and integrated solutions that meet our clients' needs. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

Responsibilities:

1. System Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, model, and simulate mechatronic systems, ensuring they meet the project requirements and adhere to industry standards and regulations.

2. Prototyping and Testing: Lead the development and assembly of prototypes for testing and validation. Analyze test results to identify improvements and optimize system performance.

3. Integration: Integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components into cohesive mechatronics systems, ensuring seamless functionality and interaction between the various elements.

4. Client Interaction: Act as a primary point of contact for client communication, providing project updates, addressing queries, and understanding client needs to tailor solutions accordingly.

5. Project Management: Take ownership of assigned projects, manage timelines, and ensure successful project execution within budgetary constraints.

6. Collaboration: Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians to foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.

7. Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and test reports.

8. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies and apply this knowledge to improve existing processes and deliver state-of-the-art mechatronics solutions.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

2. Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in designing and developing mechatronic systems.

3. Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks) and familiarity with electrical design tools for schematic capture, placement, layout (e.g., Altium, Eagle, KiCAD).

4. Strong understanding of control systems, sensors, actuators, and data acquisition techniques.

5. Programming skills in languages for embedded systems and automation.

6. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges effectively.

7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with clients and team members.

8. Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and be a self-starter while also being open to guidance.
