Job Description
BRC is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our extraordinary and growing team as a Mechanical Designer. BRC is a modern office furniture manufacturer, focused on creating meaningful and inspirational workplace experiences. THE OPPORTUNITY:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the design, marketing, sales, and engineering teams to develop and refine new product as well as support existing product through continuous improvement. The role of the Mechanical Designer will be to carry the design through to production.
What You Will Do:
Support the design cycle by bridging the gap between concept and production ready product. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Sourcing and costing new parts, components and/or processes
  • Perform preliminary testing using BIFMA standards as a guideline,
  • Create assembly and specification manuals as required
  • Develop multiple virtual models for evaluation
  • Creating the final assembly and parts drawings required for production and purchasing
  • Generating new ideas for design, development and production processes through careful research and creative thinking
  • Creating prototypes for visual or mechanical evaluation and/or testing
  • Working with and understanding existing construction and production methods
  • Analyzing existing products with a view to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Attending regular new product development meetings
  • Communicating details to engineering, production and purchasing to ensure smooth transition of new product into regular production
Requirements
We are seeking passionate candidates who possess the following experience and competencies:
  • Keen Eye for detail
  • Excellent attention to detail and complete project follow through
  • Problem solving & creative thinking
  • Good communicator across multiple departments
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or industrial design
  • Microsoft office applications.
  • Experience with 3D CAD (Inventor, Solidworks, ProEngineer, etc.)
  • Project and deadline oriented
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a mechanical designer, design engineer or similar role within a manufacturing environment
