About The Role
Steelhaus Technologies Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual to fill a Mechanical Design Engineering role, supporting our Engineering (International) department. Candidates will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and will be expected to demonstrate project management and organizational skills and employ them on multiple projects at any given time. They will also have to possess very strong mechanical aptitude and be able to progress projects through conceptualization, design, procurement, testing, and production handoff. The selected candidate will develop or modify products to be used in the international market and will be required to provide technical summaries to internal and external stakeholders as needed. The product lines that the individual will be required to work on are Lower Completions & Thru-Tubing, Well Construction, Artificial Lift, and Thermal.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Document time spent working on individual projects
  • Assist in the design development and qualification quoting process
  • Write and maintain technical documents on tool properties, schematics, and assembly procedures
  • Manage design projects from conceptualization to production
  • Manage multiple design projects and regularly report key information when required
  • Assemble and qualify new tools using testing methods such as function, pressure and system integration testing
  • Support with guiding junior team members
  • Perform and document Engineering calculations on mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Participate with the engineering group to help solve technical problems
  • Assist in the design and documentation of test assembly facilities and processes with manufacturing and engineering
  • Perform preliminary calculations to develop product data sheets (or statements of work) for sales purposes
  • Provide technical input for the design and redesign of downhole tools
  • Maintain electronic files for assembly and part drawings
  • Adhere to budgets and keep track of project expenses
  • Create and document project schedules and progress
  • Create technical models for sales and marketing purposes
  • Manage and maintain design documents following American Petroleum Industry (API) standards
Knowledge Skills And Abilities
  • Ideal candidate will have knowledge of completions, coiled tubing, fracturing and steam injection operations
  • Possess a team-oriented attitude with a willingness to step out of the box when necessary
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 3+ years experience in Engineering Design
  • Proven self-starter with an ability to work independently
  • Experience specific to oil and gas completion tool design is considered an asset
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment, tolerancing and part interconnectivity
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software
