Job Description
SAIT’s School of Manufacturing, Automation & Transportation provides the skills-based training and development to prepare students for a career in Alberta's rapidly growing oil and gas, transportation, manufacturing and automation sectors. We provide applied learning in action through our trades and technology programs.


The Opportunity


We are currently recruiting a full time MET casual Instructor for our day and evening Mechanical Engineering Technology Programs. The focus for this position will be on Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical technologies, including Strength of Material, Thermodynamics, Manufacturing processes and Quality Assurance, Solidworks.

The Role


  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors.
  • Instruct high-level technology courses to mature learners
  • Develop course outlines, profiles, and curriculum
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
  • Participate in curriculum and program reviews
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners


Qualifications & Experience


  • Minimum of 3 year teaching experience, and 1-year curriculum development and design experience are considered assets
  • Ability to organize course concepts and materials to create an optimal learning environment
  • Comfortable public speaking and ability to engagingly convey conceptual and practical course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
  • Ability to adapt to situations such as unexpected workloads.
  • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others, with a willingness to spend quality time to help students succeed
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Preferably Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Relevant equivalent education will be considered
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ recent industry experience in mechanical engineering and hydraulics
  • Possess a positive respectful attitude and desire to support team members and the Academic Chair with program improvements
