Job Description
Eaton’s ESSG CA Canada division is currently seeking a Mechanical Assembler.


What You’ll Do


Eaton’s Electrical Sector - Canada is currently seeking 4 Mechanical Assembler positions in EPC (Edmonton Power Centre) to join our team. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB location.


Position Overview


Under the guidance of the Mechanical Team Lead and reporting to the Production Coordinator, the Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembly of electrical panels, enclosures, and electrical assembly of materials handling equipment projects. The assembler will interpret manufacturing information documents in order to mechanically assemble or modify components to ensure compliance to Quality standards and make the necessary adjustments in order to meet those standards.


  • Please note that this is a Monday through Thursday position working from 3:30 pm to 2 am. The shifts will be 10 hour shifts and eligible for overtime after the 10th hour. There will be a $1 dollar per hour shift premium assigned for this rotation. Training will initially be provided on the day shift for 2-4 weeks at the commencement of employment (Monday to Friday from 7am to 330 pm).

In This Function You Will


  • Reporting to the Team Lead, Mechanical on work related activities on a regular basis.
  • Review mechanical performance of completed assemblies to ensure compliance to quality standards and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner, including the return of tools to designated areas.
  • Follow Eaton 5S Processes for Material Maintenance and Inventory Management (Replenishment system).
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting fabrication and wiring teams, when necessary.
  • Inspects all components, prior to assembly, for visual defects and damage.
  • Actively support the EPC Safety, 5S Processes, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Review and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Build and troubleshoot complex assemblies using drawings, schematics and process plans.
  • Use various fixtures, gauges, and assembly tools to assemble, adjust, or repair product.

Qualifications


Required (Basic) Qualifications:


  • Completion of High School or GED equivalent is required at a minimum. Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering considered an asset.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Forklift/overhead crane certification considered an asset.
  • 1 year of experience in the assembly or repair of product in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Prior experience in testing electrical control assemblies considered an asset. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.


Position Criteria


  • Working knowledge of the mechanical or electrical processes within a manufacturing facility is ideal.
  • Demonstrates continuous learning through cross-training, learning new skills, and refreshing prior skills.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Promote and assist in the effective implementation of Eaton’s Safety programs and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask, as well as in a team environment.
  • Effective communicator and interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written communication, and listening skills.
  • No Relocation. Candidates must currently reside within an 80km radius of the Edmonton facility
  • Knowledge and experience with hand and power tools.
  • No Sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.
