Title of position

Marble Setter (NOC 73101)

Job Duties

• Set tiles in position and apply pressure to affix tiles to base;
• Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs;
• Set vertical and horizontal alignment of structures, using a weighted plummet, gauge line and level;
• Install tile strips;
• Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces;
• Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools;
• Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel;
• Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout;
• Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles;
• Lay out and complete various types of bowl holes and cut outs;
• Prepare, measure and mark surface to be covered;
• Cut or shape marble and granite according to drawings and templates;
• Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets;
• Align and straighten tile using levels, squares and straightedges;
• Smooth, polish and level surfaces, using hand tools and power tools.
• Set stone or marble in place, according to layout or pattern;

Requirements

• Strong work ethic
• Safety gear (hard hat, steel toe boots, high visibility vest etc.)
• Ability to perform all aspects of stone Fabrication as required on a job by job basis
• Ability to work with a variety of hand tools (angle grinder, wet saw, drills, mixer)
• Ability to work within a team
• Applicants will require their own transportation
• Ability to read and understand drawings and layouts in both metric and imperial measurements

Terms of employment

Permanent, full-time position (40 hours a week).

Expected Employment Start Date: as soon as possible

$27.50/hour

Skills Requirements – Education And Work Experience

Education: Secondary school required

Work Experience: At least two years of experience as Marble Setter, Tile Setter, Stone Fabricator or similar required.

At least two years of experience working on construction sites, both commercial and residential, and familiarity with general site safety requirements.

Language Requirements

Conversational and written English required

Priority
