Spec's Manufacturing Team is looking for a full-time permanent Manufacturing Engineer. In this on-site role, you're responsible for providing support to the production teams in areas such as product/process design, engineering changes, and preventative maintenance.This role is also required to ensure that our production safety, quality, and environmental impact are continually improved by working collaboratively with other departments and contractors.The Manufacturing Engineer is required to work both independently, and collaboratively with maintenance, quality, product design, team leaders, and contractors.


Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • At least 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment; wood and/or metal fabrication experience, an asset
  • Strong collaborative leadership, supporting a diverse team to achieve their goals
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (preferably Solid Edge or SolidWorks)
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and effective engagement with others, supporting continuous communication with internal teams
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines and commitments
  • Proven ability in making considered, decisive decisions within a collaborative environment
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in an engineering, industrial design, or equivalent technical field
  • Proven ability in recommending and implementing improvements
  • Experience training (technical & non-technical) staff in quality, health & safety, and environmental responsibilities and procedures
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and familiarity with approaches such as 8D or A3

Your Outcomes:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, through training, equipment maintenance, work planning, contractor oversight, and (in coordination with the Maintenance Leader) maintenance record keeping
  • Track and effectively respond to production disruptions, including the dentification and resolution of systematic issues with sustainable solutions
  • Act as a quality champion.Work with suppliers and internal customers to resolve quality issues.Ensure that activities conform to Company-established quality standards and that non-conforming items are appropriately handled
  • Use core processes (disruption tracking, engineering change notices, preventative maintenance, new product development, and key HSE processes) to support the day-to-day activities of the production, design, and maintenance team members. Ensure the processes are being followed correctly, documentation is accurate and complete, and that they are used to identify, escalate, and resolve systematic issues
  • Support the continuous improvement of product and manufacturing processes by gathering feedback from the operations team, data from core processes, and information from other departments, then using that feedback, data, and information to improve safe operations, minimize disruptions, and help to improve products.
