Genesis Motion Solutions (GMS) has a new opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer looking to contribute to a truly unique business environment. You will help us build a world-class manufacturing and assembly operation to produce industry disruptive electric motor and gearing technologies for robotics and automation. The ideal candidate will have a creative approach to problem solving and can help guide us as we commercialize our inventive core motion technologies.

Our Team

You will be pivotal in developing best practices as we scale our manufacturing capability and capacity. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Lead, you will collaborate with high-calibre manufacturing professionals as well as a talented array of engineers from multiple disciplines to institute manufacturing methods and processes at our pilot manufacturing facility in Langley, BC.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Lead manufacturing tooling build and tooling design releases for engineering prototype and production activities.
• Work with assembly team to identify process bottlenecks.
• Support the maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
• Qualify processes introduced into the pilot manufacturing line; bring the prototype to maturity for hand-off to assembly technicians.
• Develop manufacturing processes for new products by studying requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods and equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process and drive corrective actions with Quality Engineering.
• Support creation of technical documentations such as SOPs, process flow maps, PFMEA, etc.
• Provide manufacturing development plans to reach OEE metrics: Yield, Cycle Time, Availability, and Cost.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization in existing and pilot manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to move products through the PDP (Product Development Process) phases.
• Support motor assembly team with the builds of customer evaluation units.
• Establish process capability requirements and standards to confirm that proposed manufacturing processes are delivering to internal expectations.
• Support and demonstrate leadership with all health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment.

WHO YOU ARE (Basic Requirements)

• Experience in the manufacturing of rotating equipment.
• Mechanical/Manufacturing/Mechatronics Engineering degree or diploma.
• Experience with quality management processes and tools such as AQP, PFMEA, and DFM.
• Professional experience in solid modelling software such as Solidworks, Inventor, or similar.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and DFM/DFA.

WHAT WILL PUT YOU AHEAD

• Experience in new product introduction initiatives of rotating equipment such as electric motors, gearboxes, or other actuation components.
• Experience in the manufacturing processes of electric motors (i.e. Potting, Winding, Laser Cutting, Stamping).
• Intermediate to senior level manufacturing engineering experience.
• Excellent collaborator with proven ability to work effectively with a dynamic, energetic, and respectful team.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication equipment such as manual mill and manual lathe
