Our Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Maintenance Planner, Thunder Bay Sawmill. This job is permanent, full-time.
Maintenance Planner, Thunder Bay Sawmill
Resolute Forest Products is seeking candidates for the position of Sawmill Maintenance Planner for our flagship 300 million board foot Sawmill at Thunder Bay, Ontario. This role is responsible for the maintenance planning performance of a state of art three line stud mill.
As the Maintenance Planner you will join a team of staff, operators and maintenance specialists whom report to the Maintenance Superintendent. You will assist with the responsibility to provide supervision to maintenance personnel and external maintenance contractors to work in a safe and productive manner to maximize quality and production while minimizing production, maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime.
Your Challenges
  • Research information for new work and utilize feedback and history to improve job plans
  • Maintain liaison between the operations and maintenance departments
  • Estimate the cost of labor and materials for each work order
  • Arrange materials and services through purchasing personnel and vendors
  • Verify the availability of parts, materials and special tools required for execution
  • Provide on-call coverage and availability, supervisor relief as necessary
  • Visit the job site and analyze job in the field
  • Ensure application of highest Safety standards for all maintenance planning operations
  • Your initial role will be key to build and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for use by operation to process work orders and purchase requisitions, reviewing backlog, weekly schedules, PM's, and updating the equipment database
  • Work closely with Supervisors, operators, and skilled trade groups
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, schedule manpower, organize shutdowns and other major tasks
  • Facilitate weekly and daily planning meetings

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
Your Profile
  • Mechanical Engineer Degree / Technologist
  • Practical experience of the manufacturing sector, an asset.
Your Assets And Skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and CMMS and solid computer skills
  • Advanced computer skills i.e. Autocad, MS Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture;
