In this role, the Logistics Coordinator will be expected to:


  • Work with carriers to resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate pick-ups and deliveries for miscellaneous shipments from DND carriers and commercial couriers.
  • Inspect property to ensure proper storage and protection techniques are implemented and utilized.
  • Assure all materiel is stored and preserved as required to prevent loss, damage or deterioration.
  • Determine requirements and secure multiple quotations for local purchase order action.
  • Process and prepare shipping documents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for material ordering, receiving, pick-up, local inventory control, recordation, and disposal of stock and equipment.
  • Process and coordinate repair and disposal functions.
  • Maintain adequate control records for DND owned property. Records will be maintained and safeguarded from tampering or destruction.
  • Receive, handle and prepare items for shipment.
  • Order materiel and supplies from internal and external sources.
  • Other filing and administration duties as required.
  • Deliver materiel and supplies internally.
  • Perform record keeping, stocktaking and inventory control.


Our ideal candidate has:


  • General knowledge of inventory control, stocktaking and accounting procedures.
  • General knowledge of processing of materiel for repair and disposal.
  • General knowledge of processing issues and receipts.
  • Be able to hold a Secret Canadian Security Clearance & Controlled Goods Clearance
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a logistics coordinator, shipper/receiver, stores person or equivalent discipline.
  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of courses and experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dynamic team player.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit
  • Customer-centric with experience and success providing customer service.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (read, written and spoken).
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal guidance to assure timelines and tasks are executed in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive situations with tact.
  • General knowledge of the DND supply chain and relevant tools (DRMIS, CGCS, DND supply system).
  • Must be a self-starter and well organized person who has the ability to multitask and focus on completing tasks.
  • General knowledge of hazardous materiel control and packaging.
  • General knowledge of DND supply related administrative and support functions.
  • General knowledge of preservation, storage and packaging of materiel.
  • General knowledge of requesting, receiving, issuing and warehousing of materiel.
  • General knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
