Responsibilities:
- Preparing, delivering, and filing legal documents for court proceedings, such as Trial Notices or Lawyer Change Notices.
- Monitoring deadlines to ensure compliance with court limitations.
- Providing administrative assistance, including transcribing dictated material and preparing monthly invoices.
- Arranging dates for trials, discoveries, meetings, and conferences, and confirming these dates with all relevant parties as necessary.
- Initiating and upholding file systems, ensuring adherence to firm guidelines by following protocols, conducting conflict searches, managing a substantial volume of emails, maintaining schedules and reminders, and generating routine correspondence.
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.
- Thorough understanding and familiarity with the regulations, practices, and procedures of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, as well as filing deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail, striving to produce high-quality work with precision.
- Willingness to work overtime if necessary.
- Successful completion of a post-secondary Legal Administrative Assistant program or its practical equivalent.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, capable of working well under pressure, accomplishing tasks swiftly and accurately, and effectively multitasking in response to changing circumstances.
- Highly focused on providing exceptional client service.
- Proficient in file organization and time management.
- Knowledge of Family Law rules and procedures would be advantageous.
