Job Description
Summary The Lean Leader drives the operational excellence and continuous improvement culture in the plant. This role is critical in leading and implementing the Lean strategy and principles in Markham. You will be responsible for the effective implementation of Lean principles and tools across various functions and not limited to manufacturing and supply chain to ensure developing lean transformation and culture across site.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Drive the continuous improvement journey through leveraging current tools and processes, as well as developing new ones that support improvements in lean maturity, digital operations.
  • Deliver on priorities in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash (SQDC-Cash).
  • Lead and conduct Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping events with employee participation. Lead Lean workouts and deliver training where necessary to evolve and sustain the lean culture across the site.
  • Drive daily management, Gemba walks & the problem-solving culture. Implement Standard Work.
  • Act as a mentor and coach for the plant staff members and adjacent functions to assure proper deployment of work standards and lean tools.
  • Lead/support cross-functional projects to drive process improvements. Establish lean engagement initiatives and tools to educate and influence lean thinking through-out the site.
  • Develop, configure, and optimize process improvements by applying Lean techniques and tools across the site from order receipt to shipping of the finished goods.
  • Investigate and execute new cost out & productivity improvement projects to achieve the Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) targets. Organize and lead manufacturing projects related to factory, new equipment, and area lay-out.
  • Own the deployment of Lean strategy. Report our Lean progress to the leadership team.
  • Initiate and drive waste hunting and simplification opportunities across various functions and not limited to supply chain.
  • Drive 5S culture on the production floor.
  • Implement best practices and drive innovative solutions to improve production output with quality as the backbone.
  • Assess and launch “new” NPIs with associated process(es) to deliver business and process targets.


Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university


Desired Characteristics


  • Lean six-sigma Green belt certified (Black belt preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills, Self-motivated with a winning, “can do” attitude, interpersonal and leadership skills, oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams, to coordinate several projects simultaneously & to work independently
