Regina Open Door Society
- Schedule and conduct home visits as determined by the KidsFirst Weighted Caseload Level Definition and utilizes the Growing Great Kids curriculum during home
- Provide services to families before and after the birth of a baby
- Encourage and promote self-sufficiency in all families
- Refer families to other community
- Network and advocate on behalf of families with community agencies to meet their needs and to reach program objectives.
- Provide families with the necessary information by utilizing materials and tools provided during training (i.e., Growing Great Kids, Family Curriculums, Ages and Stages, Daily Dos, Home Safety, Fire Safety, Immunization schedules, etc.)
- Follow the Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) regulations and KidsFirst Transportation protocols/procedures when transporting families and young children (i.e., seat belts and car seat safety)
- Encourage parents to take an active role in planning, implementing, and evaluating their child and family Assists family in building the life they want for their child and family
- Establish trusting, supportive and professional caring relationships with assigned
- Assist and encourage families to manage and problem-solve challenging issues, set family goals, plan for the future, provide opportunities to meet and get to know other parents
- Reinforce and encourage positive ways parents can relate to their children
- Regularly review the health and safety conditions of family's home using the
- Provide support that enables families to meet their goals, for example, transporting to appointments when necessary, issuing nutrition vouchers etc.
- Support families to strengthen their knowledge of child development, help parents understand how children learn and grow, plans and conducts activities together with parents to meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of their child
- Encourage and strengthen healthy family lifestyle by sharing and providing the following information with the families: housing, food security, parenting, specialized services of interest to the family, recreational opportunities, education, employment, and Family Wellness and Outreach team services
- Practices "zero-tolerance" for violence in the workplace
- Maintains updated files and documentation on individual children following program protocol, and maintains documentation according to program
- Experience/knowledge of basic program support (i.e. filing, preapprovals, caseload admission tracking, creating files)
- Learn and comply with RODS and KidsFirst protocols, standards, and procedures (i.e. Child Protection Protocol, Taxi/Nutrition Vouchers, Critical Incident, Home Visiting Safety, etc.)
- Meets routinely with supervisor /team leader to consult, case plan, and/or discuss directions
- Attends and participates in meetings and trainings (i.e., Home Visitor/Supervisor consults, KidsFirst meeting, FWOT meeting, Settlement and Family Community Services Unit meeting, etc.).
- Demonstrate mutual trust and respect for all team members at all times. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all team members to better meet the needs of the families and to plan, organize and implement the KidsFirst Activities (i.e., Growing Great Families, etc.) to achieve the expected outcomes
- Be available for flexible hours
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid Safety certification
- Attend and participate in meetings and training (i.e., Home Visitor/Supervisor consults, KidsFirst meeting, FWOT meeting, Settlement and Family Community Services Unit meeting, etc.). Encourage the team to develop professionally
- Maintain strength-based, family-centered, and culturally sensitive environment
- Provide services in a respectful and confidential Maintains professional level of confidentiality in regards to children, families, and staff. Relevant information will be discussed with the Home Visiting Supervisor, Team Leader and/or Executive Director
- Work with all team members to create a warm and accepting environment for all children and Exhibits a positive attitude, which contributes to a productive work environment.
- Comply with RODS Documentation Complete case notes, data entries (i.e. KIMS), and reports promptly. Document all family contacts, observations, activities, follow-up, goal planning, and services
- Provide services respectfully and confidentially. Maintain a professional level of confidentiality in regards to children, families, and Relevant information will be discussed with the Home Visiting Supervisor, Team Leader and/or Executive Director
- Broad knowledge of local community resources that can assist immigrant and refugee families
- Knowledge of family dynamics and early childhood development
- Complies with RODS Documentation Complete case notes, data entries (i.e. KIMS), and reports in a timely manner.
- Experience in caseload management, curriculum delivery, home visiting service, documentation/reporting, data input/collection, privacy compliance, event organization, goal planning, monitoring, and evaluation of service
- Awareness of the cultural values and practices within the immigrant/refugee families
- Learns and complies with RODS and Kids First protocols, standards, and procedures (i.e. Child Protection Protocol, Taxi/Nutrition Vouchers, Critical Incident, Home Visiting Safety, etc.)
- Demonstrate mutual trust and respect for all team members at all Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all team members to better meet the needs of the families
- Able to manage workload and carry out duties independently
- Demonstrated ability to relate to families undergoing high degrees of stress
- Able to work flexible hours and function in multidisciplinary and cross-cultural settings
- Excellent computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint ) and data entry
- Works with all team members to create a warm and accepting environment for all children and
- Knowledge of data input/collection, privacy compliance, event organization, goal planning, monitoring, and evaluation of service
- Able to demonstrate maturity, a positive attitude, and strong conflict management skills
- Able to handle high stress and emotionally demanding work environments
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, risk management, family centred, strength based, and solution focused practices/approaches
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid Safety certification
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and able to communicate effectively in a courteous manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Exhibits a positive attitude, which lends to productive work
- Able to develop materials and resources, respond to general inquiries, schedule/coordinate events, and compile documents and reports
- Knowledge of settlement related issues facing immigrants and refugee families
- Experience in organizing and leading group activities
