Posting Summary

Ukrainian Museum of Canada is looking to fill the position of Retail and Visitor Services Officer. The Retail and Visitor Services Officer will provide exceptional service to all museum guests. This position plays a lead role in planning and executing all retail merchandising, and in inventory content decisions including researching new products and suppliers.

The Retail and Visitor Services Officer must possess the following:

  • Excellent data management and organizational skills
  • One year of experience in retail
  • Ability to work weekends
  • A strong interest in Ukrainian cultural heritage and Ukrainian Canadian history
  • Strong knowledge of retail sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service

About the Ukrainian Museum of Canada

The Ukrainian Museum of Canada (UMC) was established in 1936, and is located downtown Saskatoon, in Treaty Six Territory and the homeland of the Métis. We are the headquarters for a network of museums, with branches in Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. With more than 30,000 objects in our collection, the UMC has one of North America's largest ethnic textile collections, as well as large collections of pysanky, settler artefacts, and fine and folk art. Under new leadership since May 2022, the UMC is embarking on a journey of re-invention and re-engagement with local, regional, national, and international communities.


Hours

37.5 hours per week, normally Wednesday-Sunday, to ensure presence during the museum’s opening hours, with occasional evenings and odd hours for special events.


Wage

$20/hour, with extended benefits following 3-month probationary period
