Junior Project Manager


Apex Life Sciences is searching for a Junior PM for our client in Oakville, ON. Our client is in the pharmaceutical industry and will be looking for someone with 3+ years experience in a PCO/Junior PM role, has their PMP, and experience helping manage projects across multiple lines of businesses. This position is a 14-month contract opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned. Key Qualifications:
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams.
  • Experience using Great Plains software
  • Conduct meetings and forums with key players to solicit feedback, input and expectations to be incorporated into project plans.
  • Ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings, feedback sessions and briefings to create consensus amongst key players.
  • Manage the entire project lifecycle from strategic planning through to tactical activities and help the execution for all corporately assigned initiatives.
  • Provide end user support for reports, including making modifications and additions.
  • Troubleshoot system errors, functionality and alignment of user processes.
  • Establish a project charter to define roles and responsibilities, project objectives, goals, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, work breakdown structure, milestones and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and maintain an organized work environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking to analyze and solve problems or business situations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Compile and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training on project management and collaboration software and company processes.
  • Experience using Smartsheet project management software.
  • Ability to create and conduct presentations.
  • Create contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • Lead the CTPAT/PIP Committee, update portal based on updates from team
  • Ability to self-motivate and motivate others.
  • Identify and resolve resource allocation discrepancies.
  • Work with 3rd parties to resolve functional and procedural errors.
  • University degree in Project Management or other related field.
  • Coach and guide project team to success and achieving department goals.
  • PMP designation is required
  • Lead Manufacturing SHRED application annually
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • At least 5 years of experience in training role.
  • Ability to innovate and systematically improve process.
  • Lead the Business IT Services (VBITS) committee.
  • Complete training as related to ongoing training needs, onboarding of new staff, and to address current gaps in training as established by the candidate in this role and as agreed upon with direct manager and/or Executive Leadership Team
  • Provide direction along with the IT Team on the use of Dynamics GP system functions and 3rd party integrations.
  • Define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, and oversee the efforts of project team members.
  • Plan project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, using SmartSheet.
  • Conduct ROI, cost-benefit and risk analyses to determine project feasibility.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience managing and implementing projects.
  • Develop a formal communications plan and mechanisms for tracking and reporting on project progress.
  • Conduct project post mortems to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
