Part-Time (0.4 FTE, equivalent to 2 days/week), Salaried
Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is seeking aJunior Graphic Designerto join our creative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating visually appealing designs that effectively communicate the university's brand and message.
The Junior Graphic Designer will collaborate with the creative team to develop designs for various print and digital materials, including brochures, multi-page documents, posters, social media graphics, and other marketing collateral. This position reports to the Design Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality
- Assist with the production process of design projects, including preparing files for print and collaborating with vendors
- Stay current with design trends and industry best practices
- Work with members of the Communications and Marketing team to ensure that designs communicate the intended message
- Create visually appealing designs that are in line with the university's visual identity guidelines
- Design various print and digital materials, including brochures, posters, social media graphics, and other marketing collateral
- Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to develop designs that align with the university's brand and message
- Prepare final designs for print or digital publication
Qualifications
- Photography experience is an asset
- Knowledge of typography, color theory, and layout design principles
- Proficient in Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and other design tools
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- A degree or diploma in graphic design or a related field
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and with stakeholders
- Commitment to CMU’s mission, purposes, and programs, including participation in/commitment to the Christian church and to Indigenous reconciliation
- Ability to take and follow creative direction
- A portfolio of work demonstrating strong design skills and experience with various design projects
- A passion for design and a desire to continuously learn and grow in the field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- 1-2 years of experience in a graphic design role or a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant skills
