KFNE has an exciting opportunity for a full time Jr Civil Project Engineer/Technologist to join our Operations Team in Port Coquitlam, BC. Located on the traditional territory of the Kwikwetlem people, our offices are situated on Pitt River Rd.; a car is required as transit is limited.Hiring preference will be given to qualified candidates who self-identify as First Nation or another Canadian Indigenous ancestry. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for civil engineering design and drafting, gathering data, doing research, monitoring construction progress and helping plan for new projects, working closely with site Operations team and Finance.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews development-related drawings and specifications understanding civil engineers' plans, troubleshoot operations and provide meaningful feedback & technical guidance to the team.
- Create design drawings for roads, land development, storm and sanitary sewers, water mains, lot grading, stormwater management systems, and erosion and sediment control plan, etc. utilizing programs such as AutoCAD and other specialized software.
- Works independently under minimal supervision while effectively collaborating with others.
- Liaise and co-ordinate follow-up with third party consultants (engineering, Geotech, architectural, archaeological, etc.) on projects
- Analyzes data & conducts research.
- Maintains a safety-oriented attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to excel and achieve.
- Completes reports about work status, maintaining project records and files
- Research and compare suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery.Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, place, track and reconcile orders.
- Collaborates, communicates and follows up with all regulators to ensure flow of information and documentation.
- Arranges construction materials and resources, like labor, equipment and site clearance, to ensure smooth workflow.
- Prepare quantity take-offs/materials estimations from drawings and construction plans.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Graduate from a recognized institute of technology with a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. P. Eng preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment
- Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- Minimum 2 years of experience with at least 1 -3 years in construction industry or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Valid BC Drivers License with a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance
- Technical competence and strong attention to detail
