Job Description

The Human Resource Business Partner will run the daily and strategic functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including corporate and departmental strategy, hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Be well-versed in employment standards, laws and regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
  • Be a business partner to the leadership team and other functions by understanding business challenges and goals
  • Establish and implement health and safety culture, including certifications and committees
  • Assist other functions to perform their duties and responsibilities
  • Be the primary contact and advisor to managers and employers regarding employee and company related policies and procedures
  • Responsible to maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Lead employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Implement and administer employee policies and promote positive employee relations

  • Skills and Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of related HR experience
    • Excellent communication skills
    • CHRP/L is preferred
    • Proficiency in software like Wrike, MS Office and Google Workspace
    • Knowledge and expertise in HR policies and procedures
    • Strong decision-making skills
    • 2-3 years of recruitment experience
    • Knowledge about conflict management
    • A strong understanding of best practices and current regulations specific to HR
    • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
