Job Description

Serves as the on-site administrative liaison in the absence of the senior administration. Provides supervision, guidance and assistance in decision making and problem solving for all departments within the facility in the absence of Department Managers. The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position. JOB DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Facilitates distribution of medication.
  • Participates in in-service and departmental meetings as appropriate.
  • Functions as a professional role model and resources person providing guidance to staff and peers.

  • Facilitates admission/discharge/transfer process.
  • Maintains personal appearance in a manner consistent with position held.
  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Facilitates intra/interdepartmental problem solving and communication
  • Functions as an operational and clinical resource in decision making and other crisis (internal and external) affecting patient care and/or operations.
  • Complies with established chain of command for work related problems.
  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
  • Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Facilitates performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
  • Facilitates resolution of customer service issues as they occur.
  • Functions in the role of Incident Commander for disaster type of events, supports AOC/Senior Administration in the ongoing management of these events.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
  • Confers with the Administrator on Call in matters of administrative concern at the facility.
  • Acts as an extension of departmental/Patient Care Managers during evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
  • Coordinates obtaining and releasing equipment/supplies to/from other facilities.
  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • Adjusts staffing to meet the needs of the patient care units.
  • Functions in a liaison role with all departments across the Network by providing interpretation of policies and procedures, access to appropriate resources and assistance in problem solving.
