Overview


Lafarge is recruiting a Heavy Duty Mechanic for a permanent position located in Edmonton, AB.


Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for equipment used in all areas of the plant. A high level of safety


practices must be used at all times.


Responsibilities


  • General equipment and vehicle repairs
  • Diagnose and repair On-Road Truck deficiencies
  • Able to perform service calls when needed
  • Maintain paper and electronic records
  • Maintain fleet and shop equipment
  • Production environment troubleshooting and repairs
  • Preventative maintenance service


Accountabilities


  • Positive attitude and works well within a team atmosphere
  • Reporting unsafe job sites and procedures
  • General safety in and around equipment and operating plant
  • Ability to plan work and self-direct
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a positive image to the customers and the general public


Education


Qualifications


  • Valid Journeyman ticket


Experience And Skill Set


  • Knowledge and experience with gas and diesel engines
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Prefer experience with on-road vehicle’s
  • Knowledge and experience with CVIP program
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical systems and schematics
  • Knowledge and experience with hydraulics and air brakes


The working environment is indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, as well as extreme heat and


dust in certain parts of the plant.
