Position Overview:
Based in Alberta and reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, this individual will be required to work on and preform all repairs, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty Caterpillar equipment used in construction, forestry, mining, oil, and gas, must be able to perform each essential function adequately.
This position will report to Coal Valley Mine Operations
:
Major Job Functions:
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all heavy duty equipment and/or related equipment in a timely fashion
  • Perform routine maintenance work
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
**Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement**
Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Able to repair all equipment
  • Ability to create standard correspondence
  • An interest in keeping up with new technologies
  • Ability to multi task, detail oriented, positive attitude, and team player
  • Possess Red Seal Journeyperson HET Certification
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong knowledge of parts and repairs
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and service literature
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team
Education & Experience:
  • H2S Alive
  • Heavy Equipment Technician (Red Seal)
  • Understanding of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components
  • Previous experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines (min 4 yrs)
  • Eye, Hand and Back Safety
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Overhead Crane
  • Contamination control
  • Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures
  • Any other relevant training as required
  • WHMIS
  • Fall Protection
  • Transportation of Dangerous goods
  • Forklift
Note:
  • This is a 7 on 7 off nights/days continuous shift
  • Valid drivers license
  • Must submit a successful Driver Abstract contingent to being selected for position
  • Overtime hours are a requirement of this position
  • As required, out of town assignments could include overnight stays
  • Successful candidate will reside in Edson, AB or Hinton, AB
