Our client, a partnership of 12 municipalities - one Electoral Area and one treaty First Nation. That collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services with its core services being drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management, has an immediate need for a GIS Technologist/Analyst. This is a contract position for one (1) year located in the Burnaby, British Columbia.

Description

The GIS Technologist/Analyst will support work related projects requested by our Water Services and Liquid Waste Services Departments and in collaboration with the IT – GIS team and key client stakeholders. They will support enterprise GIS environment on the ESRI software platform that is integrated with a number of desktop, web, and mobile GIS applications across the corporation.

Role Accountabilities

• Reconfiguring components of existing spatial data tools and applications. This may include:
• Asset management, hydraulic modelling software, Risk assessment models, document management, etc.
• Terrain data
• Fill data gaps leveraging both spatial and non-spatial tools as necessary.
• Re-align existing features where necessary based on updated drawings and other base data such as:
• Work with existing and any new methods/processes
• Other supporting data
• Provide accurate spatial data for linear assets to meet their various needs which include some of the applications noted above.
• Ortho-imagery
• Feature class attribute editing:
• Test and/or troubleshoot non-spatial errors related to integration touch points with other systems.
• Test changes with various applications integrated with GIS.
• Spatial data editing
• Spatial alignment/gap analysis for various feature classes
• Developing, supporting, and managing the enterprise GIS database along with custom GIS applications and associated integrations with other systems within company
• Test and/or troubleshoot spatial analytical errors/functionality due to issues related to data.
• Parcel information
• Attribute gap analysis
• Municipal utility base data
• Review original CAD drawings for any updated information.
• Test changes with various applications integrated with GIS.

Qualifications

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• GIS Technologist/Analyst 10 + years
• Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable working in a government organization.
• Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision, although direction will be given.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proven ability to establish priorities and strong attention to detail.
• Advanced working knowledge in the use of ESRI ArcGIS 10.8 + suite of products including ArcGIS Pro 2.8+ which may include server, desktop, web, and mobile products.
• Provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work.
• 10+ years’ experience working with Geospatial technologies with emphasis on analyzing and editing spatial data in an enterprise GIS environment.
• Knowledge and experience using advanced analytical GIS tools for preparing linear data for complex application use.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal contacts.
• Ability to read and extract information from engineering drawings.
• Proven GIS analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly learn new concepts/processes.

Additional Information

• This work will be performed on-site and remotely at head office - Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
