The Analyst, Data & Information, reporting to the Lead, Data & Information, will support GIS and data management on Canada/USA, Irish and Global Exploration, Geoscience Services and Copper Growth projects and initiatives. The position is based in Vancouver, Canada with the potential for travel to any of Teck’s projects, including Ireland.
The ideal candidate will be proficient with industry leading database and GIS applications, has a working knowledge of information and file management procedures and guidelines, and will facilitate continuous improvement and innovations.
Responsibilities
  • Administer enterprise database systems for drilling and sampling (acQuire), spatial GIS content (ESRI), 3D modelling (Leapfrog Central) and other related content (SharePoint, etc) where applicable.
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental standards.
  • Support implementation of new data capture tools as appropriate, leveraging mobile and cloud solutions where possible and appropriate to facilitate real-time integrated data driven decision making.
  • Perform quality assurance on generated results to enforce data integrity and ensure metadata and spatial data standards are maintained.
  • Support the design and implementation of data management and integration workflows, queries, automated on-line technical and business reporting, and other methods of providing content to users in a sustainable and scalable manner from multiple data types and sources including a variety of technical data, information and content types including: GIS, IoT sensors, maps, geologic sections, photos/videos, vector models, remote sensing data, satellite imagery, environmental and social baseline, virtual reality, documents and relevant administrative and commercial data etc.
  • Collaborate with office, field and operations-based employees to understand business objectives and to provide guidance and advice for the efficient, appropriate and cost-effective management of project information throughout its lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Experience and skills in other relevant GIS and 3D software (acQuire, ioGAS, Leapfrog, Oasis Montaj, GoCAD, Krux, Imago, MX Deposit,Safety Culture).
  • Experience and proficiency with SQL databases is required (implementation, management, querying). Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, R, Matlab,etc.) for data management, integration and automation.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within numerous diverse teams.
  • Experience with FME (server and desktop) for spatial file conversion and automation tasks
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and management, including Microsoft platforms such as One Drive and SharePoint.
  • Experience with imagery and image processing either in ArcGIS Pro, ENVI or another software environment. Knowledge of LiDAR is an asset.
  • Experience with field collection platforms including ArcGIS Field maps and Survey123.
  • At least 3 years experience in GIS and database applications at an advanced level. Specific experience in the resource industry would be an asset.
  • Experience in data analytical and dashboarding programs including Power BI,ArcGIS Insights and ArcGIS Online dashboards
  • Bachelor in Earth Sciences or Geoscience discipline and/or specialized certification in GIS. A post-graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Experience with spatial data querying and processing especially within the ESRI environment.
  • Experience creating, implementing and integrating both Power Apps and Power Automate workflows.
  • Experience with ESRI’s Arc Enterprise systems is strongly preferred including implementation and management of ESRI spatial data environments and related tools (e.g ArcGIS Pro, Portal, ArcGIS Online).
  • Specific software suite skill sets preferred for the role are:
  • Able to work with minimal supervision; results oriented with excellent organizational, planning, prioritization, problem solving and execution skills.
