Archer is looking for a Project Engineer/Technologist to share ownership of all aspects of project planning, systems design, supplier coordination, and new project development. The engineer is expected to work across disciplines including electrical design, mechanical design, and PLC control systems.

About You:
- Willing to become a cross-disciplinary engineer/technologist.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills
- Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small.
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn principles of electrical, mechanical, process, and controls engineering.
- First-principles thinker who can come up with novel solutions to challenging technical problems.
Responsibilities:
- Work on developing process packages in 3D CAD software (Solidworks, OnShape).
- Assist with the development of engineering submittal packages, equipment performance testing, start-up, and commissioning.
- PLC/HMI/SCADA customer support
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation (Cause and effect, programming narratives, test procedures, user manuals, installation/commissioning manuals, etc.)
- Travel up to 50% of the time to visit job sites, clients, and manufacturers (valid driving license and passport required).
- Develop and maintain project plans, coordinate project activities, track critical path milestones.
- Prepare piping and instrumentation drawings (AutoCAD) followed by electrical schematics (EPLAN).
- PLC/HMI/SCADA FAT testing, commissioning, and field service
- Instrumentation, electrical and control system design and drafting support
- PLC/HMI/SCADA program development and testing assistance
Qualifications:
- The ability to work flexible hours and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment managing changing priorities and tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Highly motivated & ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical engineering/ instrumentation and eligible for EIT status in Canada if you are an engineer.
- Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives operation and setup.
- An understanding of power and control requirements for motors and instrumentation in differing industrial area classifications.
- Focus on client service
- Excellent English; written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills including networking, software installation, driver installation and support.
- Should have minimum basic knowledge of PLCs
- A working knowledge of basic electrical machines and instrumentation.Understanding of basic electrical requirements for industrial control applications involving 3 phase power and voltage up to 600VAC.
- No restriction to travel within Canada and USA.
- Must possess a valid Canadian Driver’s License.
- An understanding of controls integration necessary between various machines and equipment within a process.
- Industrial Control System (PLC and/or HMI) programming experience.
The following would be an asset for the position:
- Centrifuge and rotating equipment control system design and/or operating experience.
- Understanding of electrical systems and codes.
- Experience with on-site commissioning and startup at industrial facilities
- HMI/SCADA programming experience with one or more of the following vendors platforms: Beckhoff, Rockwell, Schneider, GE, Siemens
- PLC/DCS/RTU programming experience with one or more of the following vendor systems: Beckhoff, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, Schneider/Modicon, Siemens
- Understanding of consulting, business development (with regards to proposal and estimate generation or contribution), client business development and sub-contractor communications.
- Technical presentation and training experience.
