Our fun and fast-paced Geospatial & Advanced Technology team is seeking a skilled Geospatial Specialist to join the team based in Mississauga, ON. This position is an opportunity demonstrate your skills, innovate ideas and receive hands-on experience working alongside our experienced team. Our new Geospatial Specialist will be mainly focused on processing geospatial data, feature extraction into CAD file format and performing quality control functions.


The team is based out of Mississauga, Ontario, but this is a remote opportunity. The successful candidate can be located anywhere in Canada. This position qualifies for work from home and uses remote access tools to support projects across the country as needed.


What you will do:


  • Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans and processed data for which you have responsibility meet the GeoVerra standards before they are delivered for checking.
  • Able to work flexible hours during the week and occasional weekends.
  • Process remote sensing survey data using Trimble Business Center, Leica Geosystems and Pix4D.
  • Use standard survey practices efficiently to draft accurate as-built survey plans from information gathered in the field and office.
  • Perform volume calculations, surface analysis, heat maps, monitoring and inspection reports as per grading plan and industry standards.
  • Perform all assigned training and follow office safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Processing incoming terrestrial laser scan, mobile mapping and UAV data from field crews.
  • QA/QC processed data and complete quality check reports.
  • Communicating with the project lead about all aspects of the project.
  • Review project scope and verify deliverables. Communicate any coverage issues to the supervisor and field team.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables being issued meet project and corporate standards.
  • Perform control network adjustment on the RTK / Conventional / Level data.
  • Able to work remotely from home if required and use remote access tools to support projects across the country as needed.
  • Examine field notes, sketches, plot plans, photos, scope of work and samples of surveyed areas.
  • Perform survey calculations using both GNSS and conventional survey methods.
  • Generate topographic surfaces based on the processed point-cloud data.


What you will bring:


  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software in the preparation of survey related plans.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft office suite tools.
  • Knowledge processing point-cloud data of one or more advanced technologies such as 3D laser scanning, mobile mapping, bathymetry, GPR and UAV is required.
  • Ability to work without day-to-day supervision.
  • Experienced in drafting and feature extraction from point cloud data will be preferred. (i.e: AutoCAD/Civil3D, Leica CloudWorx, Trimble Business Center, TopoDot, MicroStation)
  • Strong organization and time management skills and with the ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
  • An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Centre and other survey calculation software.
  • Basic knowledge of as-built 3Dmodeling will be preferred. (i.e: Revit, AutoCAD, Plant3D, Leica 3DR, Leica Cyclone, TerraModel and/or others)
  • Good skills in terrestrial laser scanning and mobile mapping data processing and registration will be preferred. Experience using one or more of the following tools will be considered a strong asset: Leica Cyclone, Leica Register360, Trimble Business Center, Trimble RealWorks, Faro Scene, TerraScan, and/or others
  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
