About The Role
- Support compliance inspections, assessments, enforcement, investigating complaints and incidents, and providing accurate reports from these activities.
- Conduct computer-aided Ergonomics Analysis and probe complex ergonomic issues.
- Engage in equipment and process design reviews using ergonomic assessment tools.
- Collaborate with team members in the development, implementation, and management of safety policies, programs, and procedures.
- Participate in and occasionally lead incident analysis to identify and address the root causes of injuries and near misses and develop corrective and preventive measures.
- Collect and analyze physical task parameters using various tools such as tape measures, scales, stopwatches, and force gauges.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams such as Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Procurement, and Human Resources to ensure new products, processes, facility designs, work procedures, and human-machine interactions promote health and high performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by suggesting modifications to policies, procedures, work environment, and equipment to enhance human performance and prevent injuries.
- Mentor and coach others in ergonomic engineering and work system safety design, acting as a catalyst for positive change.
- Analyze injury data to pinpoint areas of concern and establish improvement objectives and benchmarks.
- Drive ergonomic program success and injury risk reduction through assessment, training, and employee awareness initiatives.
- Carry out ergonomic risk assessments in the manufacturing and office setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Aptitude for using measurement tools such as force gauge, pinch gauge, measuring tape, and hand dynamometer with precision.
- 1 – 3 years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment, focusing on ergonomics.
- Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate relevant ergonomic program elements.
- Proficiency in using ergonomics analysis tools, including but not limited to Humantech Software, Arm Force Field, Liberty Mutual Manual Material Handling Equations, RULA, REBA, Sue Rodgers, NIOSH Lifting Equations, and Strain Index.
- Knowledge of ergonomics tools and equipment (ie: force gauge, dynamomter, etc.), Musculoskeletal Injuries, return to work programs,
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Eligibility for certification as an Associate Ergonomist through the Canadian College for the Certification of Canadian Ergonomists or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Post-Secondary education in disciplines such as Occupational Health & Safety, Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Human Factors Engineering, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet stringent deadlines.
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Regulations, and enforcement laws and practices an asset.
- Experience in writing comprehensive reports that outline the steps taken, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.
