Job Description

As Properate is transitioning into the exciting growth stage, we are looking for an individual who can take responsibility for our Geospatial data processing and analysis. As our GIS analyst, you will be responsible for working with Properate’s geospatial datasets to improve the decision making processes. The GIS analyst will work closely with the technical development and product management team to improve Properate’s product suites.


Work arrangement:

  • Part-time to full-time, or full-time (40 hours per week). Flexible working hours and flexible working arrangement.
  • Health benefits provided including dental and prescription.
  • Fully remote, but preference will be given to candidates located in metro Vancouver.



Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and define business requirements for geospatial data analysis.
  • Utilize data modeling techniques to create spatial databases and optimize data storage and retrieval.
  • Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through visualizations, reports, and presentations.
  • Design and build data pipelines from scratch, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of geospatial data.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze geospatial data from various sources to derive insights and make data-driven decisions.
  • Develop and implement data processing and quality control procedures to maintain the accuracy and integrity of geospatial datasets.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms to geospatial data to discover patterns, predict trends, and improve decision-making processes.



Requirements

  • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in building data pipelines from scratch, including data collection, transformation, and integration.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with data modeling and designing spatial databases.
  • Solid understanding of geospatial data formats, standards, and libraries.
  • Proficiency in geospatial data analysis tools and languages preferably Python, and QGIS.
  • Experience with data conversion activities and familiarity with web mapping applications
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Geospatial Data Analyst or in a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of spatial analysis techniques and geospatial statistics.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application to geospatial data analysis.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of geospatial visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with geospatial data standards and protocols (e.g., GeoJSON, OGC standards)
