Kelly’s hiring! We are currently hiring a Financial Analyst for a 6 to 12-month contract opportunity with our client located in Essex, ON.
The successful candidate will analyze electricity purchase and sales data in order to prepare electricity settlement and variance reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Review, understand and regulatory accounting methodology and requirements, including document review and training from subject matter experts
- Monitor regulatory guidance for changes to requirements and apply to ensure compliance
- Coordinate with auditors and provide explanations for reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of reporting and record keeping requirement filings
- Review and update current and historical variance accounting models using purchase source documents, internal sales data and other information
- Track electricity settlements and electricity Deferral and Variance Accounts (“DVAs”) in accordance with requirements
- Maintain detailed analysis of DVAs in an organized and well-documented fashion
- Perform data manipulation, verification and reconciliation and associated explanations to management
- Prepare monthly electricity settlement submission, including co-ordination with Customer Service and IT to source and corroborate data
Qualifications/Skills:
- Ability to adapt and manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong data collection and analytical skills
- Advance proficiency with MS Excel
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong ability to focus
- Degree or diploma in Business, preferably specialized in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts
