Financial Accountant Jobs

We are searching for a proactive candidate to undertake aspects of financial management, including internal analysis and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation. The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance department efficiently and effectively and providing support through accurate financial information and analysis to move the company towards its mission and goals.

The permanent full-time Financial Accountant position is based out of our office in St. Catharines and reports to the CEO and COO. The successful candidate is extremely detailed-oriented while continuously working with a sense of skepticism. Additionally, the candidate will possess a high-level of analytical skills, have an expert proficiency with excel, while displaying attention to detail in all areas where work is completed.

Responsibilities

• Managing tax and insurance filings (Source Deductions, HST, GST, WSIB)
• Responsible for completing accounting/bookkeeping functions including preparation of the general ledger, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, & accounts receivable
• Managing company benefits and RSP plans
• Preparing cash flow reports, projecting cash needs at bi-weekly intervals through the Profit-First method
• Monitor the financial performance of the company
• Identify variances through spreadsheet analysis to create cost-efficiencies
• Create internal reports and present findings to senior leadership team
• Collaborate with operations to identify opportunities for process and system improvements

Through proper execution of the above-stated job responsibilities, a Financial Accountant will have a strong grasp on the company’s financial standings and be able to provide sound advice to the leadership team to help drive the company forward.

A successful Financial Accountant will be able to think strategically and make decisions effectively. They will develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information to ensure profitability, capital expenditures, and performance against budget are within established guidelines.

Credentials and Experience

• Advanced MS Excel skills – including pivots, macros, and advanced formulas for analysis
• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
• Strong proficiency with accounting/financial management software - QuickBooks Desktop is considered an asset
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Attention to accuracy and detail required
