Finance Manager Jobs

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our nonprofit client's team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a Controller or Director of Finance, with expertise in budgeting, accounting operations, project accounting, and staff management. The Finance Manager will play a critical role in managing financial activities, ensuring accurate project accounting, and providing strategic financial guidance to the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate project accounting, tracking expenses, and monitoring financial performance.
• Utilize SAGE 300 as the primary accounting system and ensure its effective implementation and usage.
• Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis.
• Handle foreign currency transactions, including conversion and reconciliation.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for the board, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and confidence.
• Embrace a fast-paced work environment and take ownership of the position to shape it according to evolving needs.
• Exemplify leadership qualities and inspire the team while fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
• Demonstrate a genuine passion for making a difference through the organization's impactful projects.
• Communicate effectively with senior staff and stakeholders, providing financial insights and recommendations.
• Coordinate with project teams to convert funding received from Global Affairs into actionable project plans across different countries.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements, with a focus on transitioning to a new accounting system within the next 6 months.
• Manage a small team, including one direct report, and provide surge capacity as needed.
• Collaborate with an outsourced payroll provider to oversee payroll processes for 15 employees.

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and growing environment.
• Strong reporting skills with experience presenting to a board.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Ability to handle foreign currency transactions and conversions.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controller or Director of Finance.
• Strong budgeting and accounting operations expertise.
• Experience managing staff and providing surge capacity.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in project accounting and detailed financial analysis.
• Exposure to payroll processes, preferably in an outsourced capacity.
• Hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 2 days on-site in Ottawa.
• Confident, directive, and decisive approach to work.

Education

• Completed post secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related studies.
• Completed CPA designation.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with SAGE 300 or similar accounting systems.
