The Field Service Tech performs all trouble shooting and customer training on new and existing machines to customers’ satisfaction. Puts new machines into service, which includes testing and demonstration of the new equipment at the customer’s site. Repairs existing equipment at the customers site. Trouble shoots the machines and perform the necessary service, maintenance, and repairs to restore the equipment to proper operation.


Responsibilities


  • 80+% travel to Canadian and foreign customers’ locations for machine start up, troubleshooting and repair along with customer training.
  • Works with engineering and/or production to solve problems with new machines.
  • Makes positive contributions towards the continuous improvement of our equipment and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve effective rapport with customers.
  • Advises and trains customers on proper maintenance and operation of Nordco equipment.
  • Prepares weekly travel expense records and field reports as required.
  • Recommends repair parts and product improvements to customers.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


Education


  • High School diploma or equivalent along with a minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial or mobile heavy equipment mechanic.
  • PLC and/or CanBus systems troubleshooting training strongly preferred
  • Associates Degree a plus


Experience


  • General mechanical experience, extensive knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems including the ability to read schematics
  • Previous railroad experience a plus


Technical Skills


  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in different situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, governmental regulations and professional journals.
  • Requires mechanical aptitude

  • Must have a Valid Drivers License
  • French speaking preferred


Travel


  • Valid Drivers License and Passport Required
  • 70 – 80% travel or foreign and domestic locations


Working Conditions


While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Temperatures can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Travel to remote job sites is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, climb, walk unassisted, sit and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Le technicien de service sur le terrain effectue tous les dépannages et la formation des clients sur les machines nouvelles et existantes à la satisfaction des clients. Met les nouvelles machines en service, ce qui comprend les essais et la démonstration du nouvel équipement sur le site du client. Répare les équipements existants sur le site du client. Responsabilités

  • Conseiller et former les clients sur l'entretien et le fonctionnement appropriés des équipements Nordco.
  • Recommander des pièces de rechange et des améliorations de produits aux clients.
  • Prépare les relevés de frais de déplacement hebdomadaires et les rapports sur le terrain, au besoin.
  • Travaille avec l'ingénierie et/ou la production pour résoudre les problèmes avec les nouvelles machines.
  • Plus de 80 % se rendent sur les sites de clients canadiens et étrangers pour le démarrage, le dépannage et la réparation des machines ainsi que la formation des clients.
  • Apporte des contributions positives à l'amélioration continue de nos équipements et processus.


Connaissances, compétences et capacités


Éducation


  • Formation en dépannage des systèmes PLC et/ou CanBus fortement préférée
  • Diplôme d'études secondaires ou l'équivalent avec un minimum de 5 ans d'expérience en tant que mécanicien d'équipement lourd industriel ou mobile.
  • Diplôme d'associé un plus


Expérience


  • Expérience en mécanique générale, connaissance approfondie des systèmes pneumatiques, hydrauliques et électriques, y compris la capacité de lire des schémas
  • Une expérience ferroviaire antérieure est un plus


Compétences techniques


  • Capacité à dépanner et à résoudre les problèmes d'équipement.
  • Capacité à rédiger des rapports, de la correspondance commerciale et des manuels de procédures
  • Capacité à lire et à interpréter des documents commerciaux, des procédures techniques, des réglementations gouvernementales et des revues professionnelles.

Les conditions de travail
