The role of Executive Director at Community Living Sarnia-Lambton may be the right fit for you.



For more than 60 years, Community Living Sarnia-Lambton has provided supports to people who have an intellectual disability, as well as to their families. We have grown into an agency which has over 250 caring and dedicated employees, who consistently strive to identify and use best-practices from our sector. In addition to residential supports which consist of 16 residences (including supported independent living - SIL), CLSL offers day programs, adult and children’s respite, employment programs, recreational opportunities, and assistance with passport funding. We recently went through the process of creating a new strategic plan which highlights services, staff development, communication, technology, and social responsibility as areas of focus and growth as we strive for continuous improvement.


The Board of Directors of Community Living Sarnia-Lambton (CLSL) are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Executive Director to lead the organization into the future. As the Executive Director, you have direct, strategic operational and administrative responsibility for ensuring the successful direction and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, business and policy guidance, and technical advice to the Board, aligned with the strategic directions of Community Living Sarina-Lambton. Overseeing the development of the annual budget, you will provide stewardship of existing and actively identify potential new funding sources. You are a complex decision maker and use sound judgment to manage and operate according to the our Vision, “That all persons live in a state of dignity, share in all elements of living in the community, and have the opportunity to participate effectively”, as well as its Mission, and Strategic Plan. In conjunction with the Management Team, the Executive Director will maintain efficient day-to-day operation of the organization, and leadership. Together, you will ensure that the timely delivery of services is executed in such a way that they meet or exceed the expectations of the people supported, their families and the Board of Directors, and that they are done so within a fiscally responsible budget, and in a manner that preserves and evolves the culture of the organization.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:


  • Knowledge of developmental services area and related government regulations
  • Innovative and creative in problem solving to maximize available resources
  • University Degree in human services, social services, psychology, or other related field (Masters’ preferred) or equivalent education and experience
  • Ten years senior management experience in the social sciences field preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, able to lead teams with a collaborative approach.
  • Some experience in Board governance and working with a Board of Directors is an asset
  • Good understanding of intellectual, psychological and behavior-related disabilities
